Description: Encontra - Se a Inglaterra em Apuros! (England in Trouble!) Description: An interesting WW2 propaganda poster published in Portugal in 1943/1944 describing the British concern about the continuation of the Second World War. In the centre is an essential map of England with vignettes showing the rubble of important urban centres; on the sides is a depiction of German bombing raids in the 'Battle of the Atlantic'. At the top, a box with a text in Portuguese quotes the 'Sidney Sun' newspaper of 19 May, which reported a non-public note from the Times of London: 'How long will we have to watch daily air raids destroying our major cities? .... Numerous experiences have shown that local authorities are no longer able to take care of the most urgent needs." Again the Sydney Sun three days later published a telegram from a correspondent in London: 'What, in fact, is the situation of the British Navy? It is very serious! If the battle in the Atlantic is not won, or if the losses are not lessened, our situation becomes desperate..." Date: Lisbon 1944 Size: 38 x 59 cm Condition: Overall in very good condition.
