Description: This is for an original program for the National AAU Phillips 66 Championship team. The program features photos and biographies of all of the 1944-1945 players, an “Honor Roll” featuring former Phillips 66 players who are now serving in the service (WWII), and a brief biography with photos of the team’s management. Frank Phillips would be the founder and owner of Phillips Petroleum, President K.S. Adams who was the founder of the team and made sure that the players “would advance to responsible positions within the company”, and former player Bud Browning who would coach the powerhouse team. The Phillips 66 team would dominate the AAU winning six consecutive titles from 1943 through 1948 and posting a 241-24 record against all comers. Because Phillips Petroleum was considered a war related industry, when other teams were losing players to fight abroad in the war effort, the Phillips players were considered to be exempt from the draft since they were employees of Phillips. A gorgeous and tight program from one of the teams Championship seasons. Tough to improve on this one and a must have for early basketball fans. Check out the scans and email with any questions.
