Description: 1940's Sailboat Ashtray Clear Glass Boat Nickel Plated Metal Sail - Made In USA. It's cataloged in West Virginia Museum of American Glass. " Made in USA, this very crisply pressed glass ashtray hold a sail made of tin. The sail snaps into grooves in the boat". It was designed by Louis Meyer filed the patent on September 28, 1940 and approved on December 31, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY. Quite an interesting history. I found it at the estate sale and the original owner had used it to store salt and pepper shakers. Please see pictures for its condition.
