The trip took 11 weeks. There were 51 ships that convoyed with the HMTBatory, formerly MSBatory,whichcarried 477 British and Welsh children as part of the Children's Overseas Reception Board, aka Sea Evacuees. TheBatoryleft on August 5, 1940 and arrived in Sydney, Australia on October 16, 1940. It was named "The Singing Ship" for its onboard concerts.
