Bridge This is an original press photo. When Athens county commissioners authorized only $7,500 for food orders, while $9,000 was required to care for all the County's 6,252 needy, officials were forced to curtail relief, with only five out of six families receiving food orders for first two weeks of January. The federal surplus Commodities Corp is trying to ease the situation with large shipments of flour, apples, oranges, and other food stuffs. Most of those on relief rolls are unemployed miners, forced to seek aid when the mines shut down. Photo #1 - County relief director Fred C Shafer, left interviewing W.L. Bridge, 64.Photo measures 8 x 6.25 inches. Photo is dated 01-09-1940. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: cvw24270 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
