One of the greatest race track crowds in America, expected for the match race between War Admiral and Seabiscuit at Belmont Park track Monday May 30 posed a problem for promoters until they turned to an idea created by Douglas Geddes (above). Since the $100,000 purse for the winner must come from the turnstiles rather than the mutuels, handling of admissions became an important phase of the match. Geddes, as a result, has been put in charge of the entrance gates, where the turnstile unit he originate will be used. Geddes expects to have 115 men working on 31 turnstiles to handle the crowd. Photo measures 7 x 9 inches. Photo Is dated 1938. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: nei62415 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
