Description: 1937 Press Photo Highway Patrolman examines accident wreckage in Northern CA This is an original press photo. A few seconds after a passing motorist noticed that the rear tired of a huge gasoline truck were afire and shouted a warning to the driver, the car was driven off the road, and the driver leaped from the cab. A moment later, it burst into flame. Friction was believed to have been the cause of the blaze, which ruined a section of the Susanville-Red Bluff Highway in Northern California. Above a highway patrolman braves the intense heat in an effort to obtain the license plates of the truck which was totally destroyed. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 08-27-1937.
