Never use staples. 1937 D - scarcest of all Walkers, more so in higher grades. Bright white coin with very good luster and some cartwheel effect that has been gently cleaned and harshly cleaned with a very fine wire brush (see notes below). Despite these attempts, there are still chunks of debris and dirt stuck to it. Around the margins and in other protected areas, the mint luster on the coin surface is similar to a MS coin. Not a highest-level AU, probably a mid-range. Reeded edge is strong, and no noteworthy damages observed. This coin would look good next to other high-grade white coins and uncirculated coins. Weighs 12.5 grams. Notes: The tiny scratches from harsh cleaning are usually not visible to the naked eye and mostly not visible under low and medium magnification. It depends on the fineness of the brush, etc. Under high quality 15X magnification, if the coin is held in the light at just the right angle and moved about, most any tiny scratches can be seen in families running in different directions. You can even see whizzing marks at 15X. The scanner I use is largely incapable of capturing these fine lines, and only sometimes catches the larger ones if they are running perpendicular to the light source. This type of harsh (and gentle) cleaning is/was rampant to make coins look shinier and brighter and remove purse slime and other debris, dark toning, etc.
