It was published by McLoughlin Bros., Inc., Inc. Springfield, Mass.. Illustrator, Peter Da Ru. The marvelous book measures approximately 7-1/2" X 5-1/4" (19 cm. X 13 cm), and contains 111 pages. Other than the illustrations on the cover and the inside cover and first fly paper, there is only one other illustration … also near the beginning of the book … a charming illustration at the start of the story … of Mr. Twinkly Eyes bear. Allen Chaffee wrote several books staring this smart and lovable bear. Usually they had moral lessons for children baked into the plot. Condition: This book was obviously well loved and well read by it's owners. It probably had a dust jacket at one time, but it is long gone. These types of book were printed on paper that was not the highest quality available. Nevertheless the book has survived very well over the past 89 years. The cover and the spine are still sound. It is clean, bright and has very little surface wear, although there is a bit of wear to the corners. The pages inside are fragile, but there are actually very few tears. A couple tears were reinforced with archival tape, and should hold up well for many years. Please see all of the photos above to confirm the contents and condition of this item.
