Description: Kensitas Silk Flowers were woven in Holland By the firm of J.Engelen and Evers in 1933-34 Engelen and Evers had supplied the Turkish Macedonian Tobacco firm with silks for a number of years, before the Dutch Government banned gifts (these silk pictures) being enclosed in packets of cigarettes. In almost no time the firm had lost its major customer. Mr Wix an astute businessman with interests in Holland ,knew of this, and contracted the firm to produce a series Silk Flowers which were to be put into folders, and then into packets of Kensitas Cigarettes . He decided that a superior brand should have superior gift cards!. Previously their main advertising slogan had been (and continued to be) "Kensitas! The Cigarette that is good for your throat." This makes my wife, an ex nurse, fume.
