Description: FIRST EDITION with separate title pages for US's Charles Scribner's Sons (the first one, opposite the frontispiece) and the UK's Eyre and Spottiswoode opposite a page that states, Made in England. 4to, 10" x 7 1/2", pp. (1-6), 7- 192, (2), 8 color plates, 7 half-tone plates, 95 illustrations after paintings and drawings by Cecil Aldin. Original beige buckram with lettering piece and upper side label. The original pictorial dust jacket is also present. Overall in VERY GOOD CONDITION, and would be better except for the dust jacket, which shows heavy edge wear, chunks missing along the edge, with the biggest missing chunk on the top of spine. It is lightly soiled but still very colorful and now handsomely portrayed in a mylar jacket. It has a $2 price on an otherwise blank front flap. The boards have light corner and edge wear, they are clean, bright orange title plates front board and spine, and there is a tear in the cloth on top of the spine. Interior is very nice, clean and solidly bound, no interior marks in 193 pages. Contributions by Cecil Aldin, PG Wodehouse, Jack Hobbs, Hugh Pollard, HW Austin, JB Morton, James Douglas, Patrick Chalmers, and others. The book title highlights the writer and illustrator Cecil Aldin. Here is a brief bio found online: Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was one of the best-loved and most prolific book illustrators working during the so-called 'Golden Age of Illustration', which spanned the late 19th and early 20th century. Aldin himself wrote and illustrated scores of delightful books for children, based on the antics of mischievous puppies, as well as more autobiographical works featuring his own menagerie." B142
