Photographed at Anna IL in 1938 by the documentary photographer Charles Medin. For many years Hal Bishop conducted a big horse-and-mule auction each Tuesday that attracted hundreds of traders to Anna at U.S. 51 and Illinois 146. The auction arena was first-class, with iron railings, and it included the first cafeteria in Illinois south of Springfield.Charles Medin was artist/photographer and then assistant editor of the Illinois Central Magazine, circa 1900s to 1949.
