1930s LITTLE BO PEEP Early Composition Character Doll in ORIGINAL OUTFIT Antique

Description: 1930s Vintage - Rare and Unusual 16" Composition Doll in Original Outfit "Little Bo Peep"In Exceptional Condition - A Time Capsule! [ FEATURES AND DETAILS... ] This rare 16" early composition child is truly a time capsule. She is totally unmarked/unbranded, and may be the sole survivor of her line; I have been unable to find sales records of another like her.She has lovely tin sleep eyes and a dainty, curly wig. She is in fantastic, exceptional condition for her age--obviously never played with. (See condition details below.) Little Bo Peep is wearing her original, handmade factory outfit, except for the shepherdess staff, which is a replacement. In the 1930s, doll manufacturers would "farm out" the work of sewing the outfits to "housewives," who used that as a means of supplementing their income during the difficult days of the Great Depression. They were held to high quality standards ... and this outfit is of high quality workmanship. Her get-up consists of the hand-sewn factory-original four-piece ensemble in excellent condition (one repair -- see below). The underclothes are of matching white material. The straw bonnet also started life with this doll; it is in excellent condition, made of the matching blue material. She is wearing antique socks and oilcloth shoes. Her staff is a later replacement and fits her well. It is covered in a pale green silk-ribbon wrap, with a lovely floral accent. She's one of a kind -- a real gem! [ CONDITION... ] - Beautiful, rare, and amazingly well-preserved antique condition -- from a non-smoking environment.- Typical light crazing on the face and body, and some age issues with the composition on her hands, as shown.- The outfit has some age issues as pictured: some tiny pinholes, and one repair, which is in the back of the skirt. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE - for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of "hair" lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc., and ... (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors - for example: reset eyes (in most cases!), repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. SO ... Any MAJOR issues -- hairline crack, total repaint, etc. -- would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. They are to be expected.
