Description: Vintage Vitex Glas Knife Clear Blue 9.25” With Original Box Vitex glass knives were made in the late 1930s or 1940s. A Vitex glass knife was featured at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Glass knives were a popular alternative to steel knives before stainless steel became widespread. Glass knives were used because steel knives could taint the flavor of acidic foods like tomatoes and citrus. Glass knives were also popular because of their natural sharpness and ease of manufacture. PLEASE NOTE: There is a chip out of the non blade side of the knife. The cutting edge does appear to have some small nicks on it. See pictures for detail.
