Coin has been gently cleaned and put up in an older folder and tarnished strongly, mostly on the edges and other high points. Lots of mint luster remaining. Gives it a good look, vintage. Being on the last page of the folder, it would have had the paper divider against the obverse. There is damage on the reverse around the eagle. Looks like a lot of it was done with a dull pointed object like a ball point pen, but when you look on the top/backside of the leading edge of the wing, there is fresh metal and undercutting. Following it down, the fresh cut goes to the eagle's neck. So maybe a knife for that. That mint mark is tall at the base and really close to the edge of the wall. The reeded edge is still bold, and the beaded border stands tall against the rim on the upper half. A slightly rotated reverse and no reverse die clash. Probably a mid-level AU.
