The gigantic explosion was part of the Callanan Road Imp. Co.'s, method of obtaining rock for cut stone, used in roadbeds. The solid mass of rock, before the huge blast was nine hundred feet long and seventy five feet high, a stone mountain in itself. A mere electrical contact, a loud boo-oo-m, and the rock was leveled. The concussion was felt for a mile around the scene of the blast in South Bethlehem, Albany County. Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo Is dated 1927.
