P. Fassett was a store manager for the Fassett/Rochdale Store in Loomis CA.The store started in 1904 as the Rochdale Loomis Store which was a very early co-op store started by folks from England who pioneered the idea of growing food on local farms and selling them among neighbors and friends.William Porter (W.P. Fassett and wife Della Dunton moved to Loomis in 1903 when the Loomis Rochdale Co began to organize the co-op store.Fassett ran the store and then took over the Rochdale part and called the store Fassett General Store. In 1915 it burned down and then he bought a ranch on Dick Cook Rd and called the ranch Monticello.He had 4000 chickens and used their waste as fertilizer for his orchards and then setup a huge bee keeping area for the bees to pollinate his orchards. He became so proficient with the bee keeping he became an expert lecturer from town to town in the area teaching people how to keep bees. 1931 and depression hit, Mr Fassett had to sell the ranch and move. This photo is of his second oldest daughter of 4 named Winifred but nicknamed "teddy",on back is written "Teddy can plow without horses" 2.50"X3.50" good condition~tiny scrapbook dots on back corners tipsI often show a high contrast close up however actual images is closer to second scan Mailed with cardboard for stability.
