Description: 1914 Mexico Federal Treasury Guaymas Sonora Fifty Centavos Currency Note Pick Number S1059 Nice Very Fine Banknote For your World or Mexican Currency Collection-PCU2216 Details Description: A nice very fine Banknote from the Mexico. This is the March 16, 1914 series C fifty centavos, which was issued by "La Tesoreria De La Federacion" or The Treasury of the Federation in Guaymas in the state of Sonora. The banknote depicts the Mexican eagle with a snake in its beak in the top right corner of the front. The design as well as all the lettering on the front is in black over a red and yellow background. The back is light blue with the image of a harbor scene in the center. The front of the note displays two signatures, the serial number, and the series C notation. This particular note has the serial number 47006 displayed once in black on the front and is not displayed on the back. The note has no water mark that we could find. The paper of the note is thick and stiff. The note is hand stamped on the back with a blue ink stamp, which we believe is a revalidation stamp making this banknote Pick S1059b. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: March 16, 1914. Printer: Unknown Size: The banknote measures ~4 1/2" by ~2 1/2". Pick Number: P #S1059b. Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine. The banknote is of thick and rather stiff paper and has all of its details well preserved. The note has no graffiti, no splits, no tears, and no splits. The note has vertical creases which are soiled. It has general light soiling and has darkened at the top of the back, we believe from possibly foxing. The note has no large objectionable stains. the note has a blue ink hand stamp, which we believe is a revalidation stamp and as such the note would be the more elusive variety Pick S1059b (see back bottom right corner). The corners of the note are intact but have some rounding and some bumps and creases. The edges have some general roughness especially at the ends of the creases. Be that as it may, this is still a rather desirable note in very fine condition, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
