According to many cartephilia experts, the Carl Lundgren (Chicago Cubs variety) is the 8th most difficult card to locate in the famous T206 series, ranking just behind that of Ray Demmitt and Bill O’Hara and being nearly equal in scarcity to the Kid Elberfeld portrait. The reason for the card’s elusiveness is that Lundgren was sent down to the minors early in 1909, thus relegating the rest of the print run to the Kansas City variety. All qualities of the card are particularly outstanding: Centering, color, registration, border whiteness, corner sharpness, visual appeal, etc. This is the hobby’s singular Mint example, with only one other Lundgren (Chicago) graded as high as NM-MT.
