Description: Hard to find complete issue of the Boston weekly Living Age for 15 May 1909 is complete and in good condition. I neatly rescued this number from an old and damaged bound volume of the magazine. See photo for complete contents. 63 pages. Some highlights I find include: The late Rowland Blennerhassett's essay headed "Foreign Policy" opens this number. New verse from Ethel Talbot, Alice Meynell and a wonderful poem about the gathering of books by the able William H. Davies called On Expecting Some Books. A longer unsigned essay on the various works of the popular and energetic French novelist Rene Bazin. An editorial from the British Economist called "The Flying Dreadnoughts." This suggesting that the introduction of airplanes might end all reasons for going to war. Helen Zimmern's "Fakes and Frauds." Novelist M.E. Francis' serial novel, chapters 22-23: Hardy-on-the-Hill. Sidney Low on "The Cockney Bounder." A lyrical essay of some interest on the now mostly vanished forever "Birds of the River Meadows" in southern England. This reprinted here from the London Times. "S.G. Tallentyre's" (pen name of Evelyn Beatrice Hall) "An Old Servant."
