Collated complete, with seventy five coloured plates, and a folding sketch map to the rear of the work. Featuring the following ink inscription and signature by Frederick Whitehead: 'To my friend Charlie Jones Fred Whithead July 1906'. With publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work for the 'Black's Beautiful Books' series. In the publisher's beautiful decorative cloth binding, with elaborate coloured and gilt design to the front board and spine. CONDITION In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Bumping to head and tail of spine resulting in small splits to cloth. Fading to spine, as expected with this colour binding. The odd mark to boards. Hinges reinforced. Illustrator's ink inscription to front pastedown, dated 1906. Scattered spotting to endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities but bright and clean, with the odd light spot to the occasional page.
