Description: NOT EXACTLY A TRADE CARDS BUT A VERY UNUSUAL AND RARE INTRICATELY PRINTED PRINTER SAMPLE CARD OF NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN CHIEF . POSSIBLY UNIQUE IMAGE. CARD IS A SAMPLE FROM A PRINTER SALESMAN SAMPLE BOOK PUT OUT BY THE BUTLER AND KELLY COMPANY OF NEW YORK CITY. CARD WAS FOR ORDERING SO I IMAGINE IT COULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR MUTLIPLE USES. CARD MEASURES 3.5X4.8" EXCELLENT CONDITION, BUT SEE BACK FOR SOME PULL MARK IF PRESENT. AUCTION IS FOR THE CARD IN THE PRIMARY IMAGE, NOT THE BOOK OR ANY PART OF THE INTERIOR OF BOOK. WRITTEN ON THE FRONT OF THE SAMPLE BOOK IS FALL 1904, IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK A PRINTED INSERT READS SEASON OF 1909-1910. BY THE NUMBER OF IMAGES INCLUDED AND SUBJECT MATTER I SUSPECT SOME OF THE SAMPLES WERE PRINTED EARLIER AND INCLUDED IN THE BOOK AS THERE ARE QUITE A FEW FROM THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR. FRONT OF BOOK READS "SAMPLES OF BALL PROGRAMMES, INVITATIONS, TICKETS, TASSELS, SOCIETY CARDS ETC.." "THE LATEST STYLES BOOK 32" "BUTLER & KELLY NEW YORK". IVE SEARCHED HIGH AND LOW AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO FIND ONE OR TWO IMAGES IN DIFFERENT FORMS, WHICH IS WHY I SUSPECT MANY OF THESE IMAGES MIGHT BE UNIQUE. THE QUALITY OF PRINTING ON THE CARDS IS ASTOUNDING, WITH MOST HAVING HIGH EMBOSSING AND GOLD BRONZING, AMAZING COLORS AND FANTASTIC ARTWORK. IVE BEEN DEALING IN PAPER A LONG TIME AND THE PRINTING IS AMAZING. CARD IS PRINTED ON A THICK CARD STOCK THAT FOLDS OUT, FRONT IS VERY CLEAN, INTERIOR IS CLEAN, BACK OF CARD HAS PULLMARKS ON MOST OF THE CARDS BUT PLEASE SEE IMAGES. AUCTION IS FOR THE CARD SHOWN IN THE MAIN PHOTO, PICTURES OF THE BOOK AND INTERIOR BIRD SAMPLES ARE FOR CONTEXT AND REFERENCE ONLY.
