1903 Lady Greetings Antique Postcard TUCK #987. Collector Item. Nice w Value.

Description: 1903 Lady Greetings Antique Postcard TUCK Publisher Series #987. Collector Item. Nice with Value. This is a very nice GREETINGS POSTCARD from the publisher TUCK & SONS. This postcard shows a young lady holding a dove against her cheek. This is an ANTIQUE postcard from the early 1903. The postcard is a pen and ink drawing in black and white. It is well drawn and attractive. This postcard is from the TUCK & SONS Series # 987, called "Art Sweet Girlhood". Often, this type of postcard was released in a set of six. The artist is unknown. This is a collector item because of its age, Tuck as the publisher, and their desirability as part of the "Lovely Ladies" collectables. This is a quality and good valued postcard. The postcard is POSTED with a Great Britain stamp. It has a written date of 1903. It has an Undivided back, and it was "Phototyped in Austria." This postcard has an UNDIVIDED BACK. This type of back was used on postcards from 1901-1907. An undivided back is a good indicator of the age of the postcard and its historical significance. During this time period, ONLY THE ADDRESS could be put on the back, and any writing message had to be done on the front. This is a collector item because of its age, and the limited number of such postcards in existence today. Also, collectors like to own a postcard that was published in the beginning years of the postcard hobby. This postcard was published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, who is an important and valued publisher. They published from 1866 through the mid 1960s in England. They first started with publishing Christmas cards printed in their native Prussia, Germany, and then moved to London. They are noted for high quality postcards and ephemera that have a huge appeal to collectors. Tuck’s “Oilette” Series was the first VIEWS postcards published in 1903 and came in sets. These became their most popular cards, and a “standard” model for other publishers. The firm was so well respected that they had the honor of being appointed in 1894 by Queen Victoria as the "Art Publishers to their Majesties the King & Queen of the United Kingdom.” This is a BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcard will keep its value! It is sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains and edge wear due to its age. The photos show the postcard and its back. The postcard is shipped in a sturdy envelope. We only ship within the USA; we do not ship internationally. USA shipping is with tracking, and we use eBay Standard Envelope mail when the value is under $20 and the weight is under 3 oz; and, we use USPS First Class mail when the value is over $20 or the weight is over 3 oz. We combine shipping whenever possible. If you purchase multiple lots, you can wait and we will send you an invoice for the combined shipping before you pay.
