It was this spa promenade, along which people walked and nibbled on fragrant round wafers, that became the inspiration for the name of our traditional Czech brand. The wafers were originally served to spa visitors as another "healing" product made from mineral water. Spa wafers are an inherent part of spa life. Sources from the end of the 18th century state that wafers were a popular sweet delicacy among the town. In Mariánské Lázně, the boom in the production of this specialty dates back to 1856. Due to their quality, traditional Kolonáda spa wafers are still the most sought after. The secret of success lies in a proven recipe and strictly followed production technology, which requires the necessary care and time. The baking molds are made of bronze, the sheets of round wafers mature at a certain temperature and air humidity for up to four weeks, and before baking, the nut mixture is sprinkled by hand even today.
