Description: This very beautifully printed large antique tobacco card is entitled, "Sheridan's Ride'. In 1887 Duke Cigarettes released this large card in series of 25, showing paintings of Civil War Battle Scenes. Each of these scarce and very colorful nineteenth-century tobacco cards feature striking colorful lithographs of a Battle Scene from the Civil War, with a caption on front. The cards were issued along with Gail & Ax's Long Navy Cut brand and Duke's Honest Long Cut tobacco, by the American Tobacco Co., Baltimore, MD. The back of each includes a list of the Battle Cards, and an ad for the tobacco.This is card no.2 in the American Card Catalog No. N99 Battle Scene series. The card shows Confederate troops attacking Federal troops at Camp Shiloh, with Union Army tents and the Confederate flag in the background.The card size is 2-1/2" X 4-1/8", with bold colors, crisp image, and marvelous litho printing by Koerner & Hayes, Buffalo, NY.
