Not only was the paper issued the day after Colorado was granted Statehood (with mention in the paper), But it includes a rare insight into Custer's last stand with an article that provides an early Native American Indian Sioux Tribe Narrative of the Battle of Little Big Horn where General George Custer and his men were defeated. The article makes specific mentions of Sitting Bull, who was not engaged in combat, and the Leaders of the Battle, Crazy Horse, Large Band, and Black Moon. It also provide a Native American record of the number of horses and weapons looted from the defeated Custer and 7th Cavalry soldiers.
