Description: You are bidding on a cheque signed by a Canadian War hero from the 1850's. 1867 $50 Bank of Nova Scotia Chartered Bank Cheque- R.McGregor VC Signature. Unbelievable find. Signed by Roderick McGregor VC, War Hero sharpshooter who overtook an enemy riffle pit himself from the Crimean War. Unbelievably rare Canadian cheque for a large sum from the year of Conferation and Canada becoming a country. The cheque is made out to a Truman French, a US citizen of the Northeast, who while prospecting for the Nova Scotia Coal Company, discovered the Acadia Seam of coal that harnessed machines and provided energy for Nova Scotia around 1872. It appears from the cheque that this was for lands and financing of the search for the power that brought Nova Scotia to the world stage, along with the gorgeous Halifax harbour, setting the stage for WW1.
