1863 Indian Head Cent (CN) - AU++ POLIQUIN PLATE, DIE BREAK, LATHE LINES (K403)

Description: DESCRIPTION - (Please Read) 1863 Indian Head (CN) is AU++ and is Raw/Uncleaned. Details: Huge reverse crack, Lathe Lines in shield and wreath, Obverse Rim Break and Lint Hub-Throughs are present. This is the Plate Coin for Poliquin Var-93 as shown in the accompanying documentation (photos 4-6). The die pairing with the reverse crack is what makes this one rare with URS-8. Only 65 to 125 examples were estimated to have been struck before the die was removed from service. The obverse rim die break is also quite bold. The Lathe Lines are also fairly rare and not often found. Please check out David Poliquin's free web source for Indian Head information and die analysis (indiancentvarieties). Much higher detailed close-up photos, help you to attribute any coin more reliably than just the Snow guide. Remember: An error coin contains blunders created by the US Mint. Error coins have more value than the average coin and increase in value at a faster rate. A much better investment for the collector.
