Description: An original hand signed in red ink 1861 “New Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern Rail Road Company” – “Three Dollars” note issued from New Orleans. The note with the hand inscribed serial number “2968” in red ink was printed by “Douglas Eng. N. Orleans”. The note is printed on the verso of a failed (or unissued) bank in “Port Gibson, Mississippi”. It was common, due to paper shortages, to print notes on the back of full sheets of failed bank notes or bonds. Original lead bullets excavated from the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Battlefields near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The 1864 battles were the beginning of General Grant’s “Overland Campaign” to take Richmond. From left they are a fired .57 Confederate Enfield rifle, a dropped .58 Federal round for the Springfield Rifle and a fired .58 rifle that could have been used by either side. They are mounted in an 8” x 12” Riker style case with glass front. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph and description of the items purchased. Please see our "About Collectors Frame” for more information on the framing and artifacts.
