Stacked on the prairie near the river, Prince Maximilian was told that hunting parties of Blackfeet had collected these antlers (lost during the annual shedding), creating the pile and covering the ground in every direction. Such piles were regarded by the Blackfeet as possessing a strong magic or "medicine" which ensured good hunting.
