Fletcher's " Scripture History " for youth. This volume covers the New Testament , from Prophecies relating to the coming of Christ , to the Seven Last Plagues in the book of Revelation. Illustrated with excellent engraved plates, each with accompanying text telling the Bible story. ( these are either copper or steel engraved ) The plates have decorated margins. Many of the engravings show scenes from the book of Acts and later parts of the New Testament, including scenes in the life of Paul The Apostle, a view of the Island of Patmos ( where John wrote Revelation / The Apocalypse ), The Vision of the White Horse of Revelation chapter 6, and the angels pouring out the wrath of God on the earth in the Seven Last Plagues of Revelation. ------- Condition. Worn leather binding, with repair work to close some splitting in the leather. The inner hinges are split, but have been carefully secured with a little Bookbinder's glue. The original owner's name is stamped in gilt lettering on the front cover : " Elizabeth R. Adden " The first text page has a 1" circular tear at the outer margin. Some of the plates have foxing. Lacks one of the plates ( over 110 plates are present ). One of the plates is worn at the outer edges, and a couple of pages have a little edge-wear. The binding recently treated with Bookbinder's Leather Preservative-Restorer to replenish essential oils and help preserve the antique leather. Over 170 years old. Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
