DATE PRINTED: 1850 SIZE: The printed view, including titles, is approximately 21.5 x 15.5 cm, 8.5 x 6 inches (medium) plus wide margins. ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved by Louis Marvy (1815-1850) from an original study by Nasmyth. Alexander Nasmyth (9 September 1758 – 10 April 1840) was a Scottish portrait and landscape painter, a pupil of Allan Ramsay. PROVENANCE: This print was published in "Sketches after English landscape painters. By L. Marvy. With short notices by W.M. Thackeray." Thackeray was an old friend of Marvy, a French artist, who took refuge in London after the chaos of 1848. TYPE: Antique etching, aquatint and soft-ground etching printed on paper. VERSO: There is a nothing on the reverse side which is blank. CONDITION: Good, suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase.
