Author William Mayo wrote this book based on his own experiences in Africa and the Spanish-Morocco coast, with a significant portion focused on Romer's medical studies as well as his experiences as a ship doctor. With a contemporary inscription, dated 1850, to the front pastedown, and two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip tail, with loss of cloth to back strip head. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Instances of light spotting and discolouration, with pages otherwise generally clean and bright.
