Description: 1848 TOPOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF SURREY by BRAYLEY 4 VOLS DORKING GUILDFORD REIGATE. Ihave here for sale four volume set of A TOPOGRAPHICAL HISTORY OF SURREY, by Edward Wedlake Brayley, The Geological Section by Gideon Mantell, The Illustrative Department under the Superintendence of Thomas Allom. Published in 1850 by G Willis at Great Piazza, Covent Garden Volume I - no title page, Dedication to Queen Victoria, Preface i-viii, 1-494 Volume II - Title page, first page of text missing so we start at page 3 through to 484 Volume III - Title page, pages 1 through to 526. Might be missing a page of Index at the end Volume IV - Title page, pages 1 through to 518. Very sadly, someone has removed the plates from the books, so we have a text based history of Surrey with many many woodcuts in the text, but no plates. There was a fifth volume published, but I do not have it. Three quarter bound in black leather on brown hardboards. Four raised bands with gilt decoration, gilt lettering in the panels. Gilt top edge to the pages.Marbled endpapers, very good condition with all boards firmly attached. 32 cm x 25cm.
