With a history on the character and attempted biography with details of his life and station. Edited by John Mathew Gutch, an English journalist and historian. Illustrated by Frederick William Fairholt, an English antiquary and wood-engraver. Bound by Westley's & Co. London. CONDITION In the original full green cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. Light loss to the head and tail of the spines with splits in the cloth. A large split to the cloth at the front joint of volume II. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot predominantly to the first and last few pages. Age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper of volume I. Bound by Westley's & Co. London.
