Description: 1846 - 1848 The Pictorial History of England by George L Craik and Charles Macfarlane published by Harper Brothers: Vol 1 in 1846, Vol 2 in 1847 and Vols 3 &4 in 1848. These are large, heavy, full leather bindings with marbled endpapers and profusely illustrated throughout with hundreds of engravings. Each volume bears the blind stamp of The American Congressional Association, Boston. Internally, the contents of all four volumes are clean and bright; no staining, foxing or markings. Boards of all four volumes are worn and scuffed with some leather loss in places.The front hinge of volume one is cracked and the rear board is completely detached. The front and rear hinges of volume two are cracked and loose. The front hinge of volume three is cracked and front and rear hinges of volume four are beginning to crack.
