Description: This is a 1840's Touching Star / or Blazing Star quilt. 101.5 inches square. Very large.Predominant colors are Red, Teal, Cheddar, Pink, muslinCotton, Hand pieced and hand stuffed work. Chevron in star areas, Various feathered wreaths. Hanging grid in border areas. All the open area has different stiffed patterns on florals.9- 25" .toughing stars. No sashing. A- 7"inch wide Turkey red print and muslin sawtooth inner border. Border of 1 7/8" wide HST in turkey red. Backing is muslin. Very good workmanship. The batting is very thin if any. No restoration, Outer boarder and binding shows heavy pitting. Back has storage stains. That condition does not detract from the beauty of this quilt. There is a cloth backing to hang the quilt on the wall. It has been in my family for decades. My mother claims it was my great, great, great grandmother who made it, but I don't know for sure. It could be a museum piece.
