1830's-60's ENGLISH SOFT PASTE CHINA CHILD'S PLATE: THE JEWS ALL WONDERING STAND

Description: This soft paste type china plate was made in England circa 1830's-1860's. The plate has the wording around the interior edges of the design "At twelve years old he talk'd with men. The Jews all wondering stand. Yet he obey'd his mother then. And came at her command." This is a child's plate which is not an abc plate. But, it is of a similar size & format as a number of different abc plates that were made for children. The center has a transfer scene showing five people. The outer edge is decorated with numerous raised flowers. There is no maker's mark. This china plate was made in England. The plate has several cracks & chips & has been glued back together along the cracks. One of the cracks on the front that runs all of the way across the plate from left to right is obvious in the pics. The pics of the back show more clearly the various cracks & chips & the glued back in areas. The glaze is, however, in excellent fresh condition & shows only a few minute flaws that occurred in the making. There are many tiny age lines that have developed over the years in the glaze which is normal for plates of this type & era. The plate appears to have never been used as there is no use wear on the surface of the front center & there is only a minute bit of age wear on some of the high points of the flowers. The plate has a diameter of 6 inches. Note: The stand that the plate is displayed on is not included in this listing. Please examine the pics to see the precise condition.
