A first edition of William Cobbett's 'Advice to Young Men, and (incidentally) to Young Women....', published in Andover, 1829. Small 8vo, bound in period gilt ruled diced calf, rebacked with period backstrip laid down, spine with three broad raised bands, compartments ornately gilt decorated, all page edges marbled. Period marbled endpapers, upper joint repaired, pencil notes and ink manuscript ownership to upper fe's. The contents are unpaginated and complete. Measuring approx 11.5cm by 18.5cm. Condition: The restored binding is holding firmly and in good condition, some chipping to backstrip, dustmarking to extremities, bumping/abrasion to spine ends and corners. Contents holding firmly in good clean condition if lightly toned with occasional light foxing, spots or marks, some light offsetting of text through the final two sections. Ink manuscript ownership and pencil notes as mentioned above.
