Description: I have here for sale a RARE THREE VOLUME SET of books entitled TALES OF THE O'HARA FAMILY Second Series comprising The Nowlans, and Peter of the Castle [by JOHN AND MICHAEL BANIM] in Three Volumes VOLS I, II & III published by Henry Colburn, London, in 1826. First edition. John Banim (1798-1842) was an Irish novelist and short story writer, who with his brother Michael, published the first series of "Tales of the O'Hara Family" in 1825. The Second Series appeared the following year and includes the novel "The Nowlans", and "Peter of the Castle". Purple calf leather boards with a blind stamped border. Minor marks, wear and some fading to the boards. Four raised bands with brown title and number blocks, gilt lettering and gilt decoration on the spines. Wear to the spines with a crack along the hinge of Volume II, and part of the title block missing on Volume III. Heavy foxing to endpapers, and light foxing in a few places. All pages are firm and the books are in very good condition. Vol I: 318 pages, plus publisher's catalogue 6 pages. Vol II: 360 pages.
