The First Edition,151pp. appendix, with 7 engraved plates (including one folding and landfalls) and 4 maps (one folding), brown diced boards, marbled endpapers and dentelles, gilt crest on the top and bottom spine, gilt titles. the hinges have been neatly repaired, front hinge starting to come apart from the bottom up 5" . The spine is heavily rubbed, boards are soiled. There is a discrete library stamp on the title page, library rules pasted on the back inside cover, previous owner's book plate on the inside front cover. Interior title pages and some interior pages are moderately foxed, but overall pages are clean, interior solid; a good copy of the rare third voyage. Severe ice conditions forced this expedition to winter on the west coast of Baffin Island. Fury was damaged in Prince Regent Inlet and was abandoned in August 1825, forcing the expedition home. "Parry again set out in May, 1824, but was obligued to abandon the Fury, he returned to England in the Hecla, having accomplished little. The second and third voyages of Parry, like the first, were unsuccessful in the goal of discovering the Northwest passage. However, Parry did discover and name the Fury and Hecla Strait and he collected additional scientific information about the Arctic region of North America.
