Peter Hawker was a celebrated diarist author and sportsman, considered one of the 'greatest shots' of the nineteenth century. His sporting accomplishments were widely followed, often being reported in The Times. Today, he is best known for his published works regarding shooting, wild fowling and fishing. This charming work 'Instructions to Young Sportsmen' is a thorough work offering advice and information regarding a wide range of outdoor pursuits, including gun management and the preservation of game. Upon release the work was extremely successful and went through nine editions in his lifetime. CONDITION Rebound with paper covered boards. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelfwear only. Personal bookplate to front pastedown. Internally firmly bound.
