His daughter by her was Mary Godwin, who would later marry the poet Shelley, and write the novel Frankenstein. His defining politic work was Political Justice, and through it he had a profound effect on writers such as Shelley and Kropotkin. As an anarchist and libertarian, his take on the government of the Commonwealth holds a lot of interest for the student of late 18th century British political thought. CONDITION In the original cloth. Externally with wear to the extremities and head and tail of the spines. The spine labels are heavily age toned, and worn sufficiently to be only partly legible. With a personal bookplate to the front pastedowns, which has offfset in both cases. The hinges for both volumes are weak. Internally both volumes are a little cockled, but are remarkably clean and bright for their age. The binding is loosening in places.
