Byron portrays Don Juan has a man easily seduced by women, rather than a womaniser. The character, but not the plot, is taken from the legendary Spanish libertine figure.Byron's poem is written in ottava rima across sixteen cantos. Upon the publication of the first cantos in 1819 the poem was criticized as immoral. CONDITION In the original paper covered boards, rebacked with a new backstrip. Externally, generally smart. Minor bumping and a little wear to the extremities. Some discolouration and light marks to the boards. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are light age toned and generally clean with the occasional spot.
