A very scarce work. In French. With a half-title. The last leaf is an errata. This work is a concise yet in-depth history in Poland, discussing the politics and great events in Polish history. The work was written as a reply to slanderous works against Stanislaw August Poniatowski, who was the last elected King of Poland. He was a controversial figure, criticized for his failure to stand against the partitions. However he was a great patron of the arts and sciences, and a supporter of progressive reforms. In this work, Lobarzewski defends Poniatowski and his policies, as well as the leaders of Targowica. He was a supporter of absolutism in Russia, and an enemy of the revolution and Napoleon. The work has a very kind view on Polish history, the author writing with an affectionate tone. In this work Lobarzewski emphasizes Poland's contribution to the development of culture, and defends the country's good name. The author is believed to have some connection to Poniatowski, though it is not known what, though he was possibly a household member.
