Description: 1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar O-111a Bearded Goddess (Mis-labeled as 111b) PCGS / CAC XF40 Fantastic totally original surfaces and an exceptional strike for any 1807 Capped Bust half dollar; this is a superlative example of the type, regardless of the variety. The rich caramel brown patina is highlighted by sky blue and gold hues when turned in a light. The glossy underlying mint bloom illuminates all. A solid XF example and one that has escaped from any type of impairment. No hairlines, marks, streaks, or flat spots to speak of. Great lower hair curls and left-facing wing detail. The fact that it is also a rare variety makes it an outstanding survivor. The closest, in quality and appearance, 111a that we documented went for $7400 in the same grade. Please note: PCGS designated this as O-111b, but it is technically a 111a, or an between variety. We are of course pricing it as a 111a. The crack runs all the way up through the face and through the eye (though some of it has been worn down under the chin), but the extra extensions, above and below the bust, have not yet formed to make this a true 111b, nor have the heavy bar-like cracks connecting the left-hand stars. Thus, this is a stage in between. A few scuffs noted on the center of the back of the slab. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE CAC, or Certified Acceptance Corporation, green-stickers only coins that are solid or high-end for their assigned PCGS/NGC grades. CAC will gold-sticker PCGS/NGC coins they believe to be under-graded outright. The extra verification provided by CAC confirms that you aren't buying low-end material; and our specialization in high-end coins means that you will continue to see CAC stickers appearing in DM RARE COINS’ inventory!
