A scarce piece on the life and works of John Woolman (1720-1772), a Quaker merchant, preacher, and prominent early abolitionist, with much of the text dedicated to his views on slavery. Acquired by Elizabeth Canby in Attleborough, Bucks County in 1810. This Elizabeth is believed to have been the wife of John Canby (1781-1858), a Delaware businessman and early supporter of Southwest Pennsylvania railroad development, some of which would develop into the Main Line.
