Engraved title-page and 19 unnumbered soft-ground etched plates by Bartolozzi after designs by Cipriani. Some foxing to 13 of the plates, the other 7 are clean. Original half red roan, with printed paper title label to upper cover. Upper board detached, spine and corners worn, but internally in good condition, with foxing as noted above. Inscribed on the inner front board, Eleanor Ross to Lady Buchan. The printed label reads: Cipriani and Bartolozzi's Drawing-Book of the Human Figure. A New edition - 1805. A re-issue of the 1786 issue of engraved title-page and 9 stipple-engraved plates by Bartolozzi, still dated January 1st 1786, augmented with further plates dated 1791-1793. Title-page dated Feb 28th, 1786; plates [1-4] Jan 1st 1786; [5] Jan 20th 1793; [6] Jan 1st 1786; [7-8] Jan 1st 1792; [9] Jan 1st 1791; [10] Jan 1st 1792; [11] Jan 1st 1786; [12] Jan 20th 1793; [13-15] Jan 1st 1786; [16] Jan 2nd 1792; [17] Jan 1st 1792; [18] April 2nd 1793; [19] Jan 20th 1793. In 1995 we sold a variant with the paper label dated 1815, which had just 12 plates including the title-page. WorldCat records a single copy of this 1805 edition (Utrecht).
