Description: Just a little history first - The first map of only North Carolina was done by Samuel Lewis in 1794. This map is the second from what I understand. As for this map. Alexander Anderson was the engraver and it's a page from Vol. III American encyclopeia published by I. Low - New York in 1803. Engraved on Linen paper Measure 13 3/8 x 9 3/4 it does show signs of age and wear. but still has survived the past 221 years. - At one point in it's history someone put some tape on the back side to avoid ripping from a fold line.
