CHINESE IMPERIAL QIANLONG INLAID BRONZE HU VASE FINE ASIAN ARTS ESTATE AUCTION, CHINESE IMPERIAL QIANLONG INLAID BRONZE HU VASE. A impressive and very rare 17th century Hu. An amazing example to see in person.Museum quality antique bronze ritual Vase-Vessel of rare exceptionally tasteful form. Very heavy and well-cast, bearing a branches of foliage and flowers as well as a rider, of highly stylized kui encircling the waist, all containing key, fret patterns. The underside marked with ancient seal script within the recessed foot. The patterns are deep and bold, contrasted by the subtle curves of the smooth spaces between the lappets. The entirety is most harmonious and tactilely pleasing. The vase is further adorned with a finely cast handle. Exceptionally heavy subject, indication of the very fine quality of material used in creating this superb piece. The surface bears a magnificent patina, further augmented with rich coloration which we believe is lacquer, commonly seen on Yuan and Ming bronzes to approximate ancient patinas. This type of patination may also be seen in Sotheby's sale of Later Chinese Bronzes from the Collection of Ulrich Hausmann, Hong Kong, 08 October 2014.One of the finest pieces of Asian bronze that we have ever offered. In excellent antique condition, this elegant bronze vessel measures approximately 8.75 inches tall and 7.0 inches wide. A very rare and spectacular example of Chinese bronze, this exquisite hu would make a magnificent centerpiece for the most discerning connoisseur of museum quality Chinese antiques. The vase is superbly detailed throughout with several interesting archaic aspects created within the Imperial workshops, we believe as a tribute to the great Zhou or Shang dynasty examples. The vase is inlaid with gold and also has many silver features, most of which have an early patina so they are hard to make out in the images. The vase is much more impressive in person that we can portray in our images. If you’re looking for investment-grade examples look no further!
